A day in the life

Curious about this telecommuting mom’s daily weekday schedule? It’s less exciting than you’d think.

5:15-5:30 am  crawl out of bed (yeah, right)

5:45 am  really crawl out of bed, scramble around like a crazy woman

5:50 – 6:30 am  make breakfast and lunch for man and boy, kick them out for the day

6:30 – 7:30 am shower, breakfast, coffee

7:30 am – noon work

noon- 1 pm lunch

1-2 pm exercise break

2-4 pm work

After 4, unless I’m swamped or distracted, I play around online for me. Pinterest, blogs, shopping for free e-books, finding recipes, clean, or whatever.  I start on dinner around 5-5:30 pm and from then on it’s family time.

I take stretch breaks while at my desk (because I pay dearly when I don’t) and am interrupted by dogs, the girl, package deliveries, and the occasional random visit.

On that note, don’t drop by without giving me a call first. It makes me a little cranky.

What does your day look like?

Inspiration via young-uns

ImageDisclaimer:  Migraine-fueled posts are rambly.

Oy, anyone else dragging?

Wednesday is usually a pretty good day.  It’s not Monday, which helps, and it’s usually a light-ish day as far as workload.  But this morning, a migraine hit.  I felt it coming last night and hoped I’d done enough to keep it away, but I failed.  A nasty one can last for days, but I do not have time for one.  I needed energy, so I stared with yoga. It relaxed me, but the aura was still there.  Coffee was my next move.  While yummy, it is not my friend and is sill kicking me in the gut.  I had no choice but to push through, so my workday started.

Blog posts, a newsletter, and article notes were all on my to-do list.  Three cups of coffee helped me through two of the posts (thanks in part to pre-written outlines), and a fourth got me through the newsletter.  Social media posts are easy when they’re mine, but my clients don’t really want chatter about my soap (General Hospital, ftw) or my geekdom.  After a stretch break, I decided to look to my kids for inspiration.  How do they beak up the day when they just don’t feel it?

My human kids game and listen to music. They keep a running commentary going as they do.  Chatter referring to game cut scenes, how hard an artist is rocking out, and groans when asked to quiet down a notch did nothing to inspire me today.  I don’t think my usual music of choice or the flashing graphics in a game will quite cut it today. Sorry, kiddos, and thanks for nothing!  Not really.

I looked at the furkids next.  My dogs are something else. I love how honestly they respond to whatever is happening around them. Old Man Oz, Stalker Victor, and Baby Girl Fred are always good for a smile, ‘aww,’ or ‘dang it, dog.’ Get treats? Bounce around happily.  Family leaves for work and school?  Pout and whine while watching the car pull out of the driveway. Mommy working?  Wrestle, bark at the UPS guy across the street, or sleep.  Raw, honest reactions.  I decided to follow their lead and take a quick nap.  It worked.

Do your pets inspire you?

See you tomorrow.

I am presently in a hospital where I have been undergoing treatment Cancer of the lungs. I have
since lost my ability to talk and my doctors have told me that I have only a few months to live so I think the best thing to do is to use the money for charity purposes.

Just stop.  Random strangers do not offer 70% of $11+million dollars to others over the Internet.  Yes, there are random acts of kindness.  And sometimes these random acts involve large sums of money.   An email or letter like this one, however, is a scam. Please don’t not fall for it.

Be safe.

Happy Father’s Day!

Wow, the abundance of spam!

It amazes me how much spam I receive in a week.  On this blog alone I received 37 spam comments.  And  my spam inbox sees an average of 100 messages a week. I wish it was more interesting or varied so I could share, but they’re all the same messages from different people.

‘You’ve won the British Lottery’

‘hey there, sexy’

‘grow your penis’

‘your fourth cousin once removed died and left you millions’

And it goes on from there.  See, boring.

I’ll post the new and different ones when they come.  Those and ones that just set my teeth on edge.

Until next time, peace.

Same old scam – lots of Fed Ex shipping confirmation messages

Seriously?  There are times I’ve forgotten that something is on the way, but not so much that I’d click a random link or download an attachment in a message from someone I don’t know.  It’s laughable, bu at the same time kinda sad.  People sill click and download randomly.

Be on the lookout for subject lines such as

  • Tracking Detail (with or without a tracking number)
  • Order shipped
  • Order Detail
  • Tracking Information

This is an easy scam to avoid.  If you placed an order, make a note of the email address of the seller.  Do not click random links when you do not recognize the email address or name of the sender.  An important bit to remember is that FedEx tracking does not involve downloading anything.  An official FedEx shipment notification does not come from JoeSchmo@randomaddy.com.

And on that note, I need to go track Ebay and Amazon shipments.  Until next time, peace.

The home office

The home office

This is what it looks like for me today. I’m going to get some Vitamin D before crawling back into bed to fight off this ick.

I love my house and neighborhood. Piece of paradise in my corner of the world.

Be safe, especially those of you facing the nasty storms. Peace.

A story complete with crime and a plea for help

Gotta love the scam emails liked to news articles.  These guys at least try to make their message believable.  They fail, but they try.

Subject:  Very Urgent Attention Please

DEAR SIR/MADAM,

E-MAIL:(tinkszietsman44@e-mail.ua)
With due respect, trust and humility, I write to you irrespective of the fact that you do not know me, but please do consider this letter as a request from a widow and family in dire need of assistance at a very critical time.

I am Mrs. TINKS ZIETSMAN, the widow of late Sir COLIN ZIETSMAN, the former member of the Zimbabwean Commercial Farmers Union who was murdered in cold bold by black revolutionists last year in my presence. I was also mercilessly beaten and left to die but was lucky enough to be rushed to the hospital by some good Samaritans. You can read up the news of what happened to us in this site(http://www.thezimbabwemail.com/zimbabwe/8940-zimbabwe-white-farmer-murdered.html ) I got your contact courtesy of a business journal from the South African Information Exchange in my earnest search for a reliable, kind hearted, God fearing and trustworthy individual or company who can assist my family at this time of need.

During the war waged against the farmers in Zimbabwe by the supporters and cohorts of President Robert Mugabe to claim all the white owned farms in our country, my late husband belonged to one of the classes of farmers targeted by the ZANU-PF armed group and war veterans, because he did not support their ideas and policies. In the course of the revolution in the country, the ZANU-PF armed group attacked and invaded my husband’s farms, burning, destroying and eventually killing him after harassing and beaten me up mercilessly!! . After my husband’s death, We escaped safely into South Africa with my husband’s lifetime fortune of US$3.5M (Three Million Five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) cash, important documents of property title and

other valuables, which were concealed and secured in two treasure boxes, and transported to Canada and Europe through diplomatic means. The consignment boxes are currently safely lodged and secured into the vaults of the two reputable security and brokerage firms in Canada and Europe.

Presently, I am residing temporarily with my sons in Johannesburg as political asylum seekers. At the moment, I am in a dilemma on how to move this money safely out from the two security companies for investments overseas, because South Africa’s government’s stringent monetary policies/regulations. More so, owing to the sensitive and volatile political status of the region, it would be most dangerous to attempt investments here as such act could jeopardize our chances.

I hereby solicit for your assistance in safely moving these funds into your bank account for safekeeping pending our future arrival in your country for investments. The family has resolved to compensate you adequately by offering a brokerage commission of 30% of the money for your assistance. I have in mind to establish a good business and friendly relationship with you in the nearest future if you are able to assist us. Please, let me receive your approval or reply through my son’s Email(tinkszietsman44@e-mail.ua)and if you are unable to assist please be kind to notify me so that I can look for a suitable alternative.
I earnestly await your positive response.

Respectfully,

MRS. TINKS  ZIETSMAN.

Anytime anyone says they’ll offer a commission for you to accept funds, act as broker, etc. outside of a legitimate sales position, run.

Until next time. peace.  Be careful.
