A story complete with crime and a plea for help

Gotta love the scam emails liked to news articles.  These guys at least try to make their message believable.  They fail, but they try.

From:  Mrs. Tinks Zietman (Office23N1@coda.ocn.ne.jp)

Subject:  Very Urgent Attention Please

DEAR SIR/MADAM,

E-MAIL:(tinkszietsman44@e-mail.ua)
With due respect, trust and humility, I write to you irrespective of the fact that you do not know me, but please do consider this letter as a request from a widow and family in dire need of assistance at a very critical time.

I am Mrs. TINKS ZIETSMAN, the widow of late Sir COLIN ZIETSMAN, the former member of the Zimbabwean Commercial Farmers Union who was murdered in cold bold by black revolutionists last year in my presence. I was also mercilessly beaten and left to die but was lucky enough to be rushed to the hospital by some good Samaritans. You can read up the news of what happened to us in this site(http://www.thezimbabwemail.com/zimbabwe/8940-zimbabwe-white-farmer-murdered.html ) I got your contact courtesy of a business journal from the South African Information Exchange in my earnest search for a reliable, kind hearted, God fearing and trustworthy individual or company who can assist my family at this time of need.

During the war waged against the farmers in Zimbabwe by the supporters and cohorts of President Robert Mugabe to claim all the white owned farms in our country, my late husband belonged to one of the classes of farmers targeted by the ZANU-PF armed group and war veterans, because he did not support their ideas and policies. In the course of the revolution in the country, the ZANU-PF armed group attacked and invaded my husband’s farms, burning, destroying and eventually killing him after harassing and beaten me up mercilessly!! . After my husband’s death, We escaped safely into South Africa with my husband’s lifetime fortune of US$3.5M (Three Million Five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) cash, important documents of property title and

other valuables, which were concealed and secured in two treasure boxes, and transported to Canada and Europe through diplomatic means. The consignment boxes are currently safely lodged and secured into the vaults of the two reputable security and brokerage firms in Canada and Europe.

Presently, I am residing temporarily with my sons in Johannesburg as political asylum seekers. At the moment, I am in a dilemma on how to move this money safely out from the two security companies for investments overseas, because South Africa’s government’s stringent monetary policies/regulations. More so, owing to the sensitive and volatile political status of the region, it would be most dangerous to attempt investments here as such act could jeopardize our chances.

I hereby solicit for your assistance in safely moving these funds into your bank account for safekeeping pending our future arrival in your country for investments. The family has resolved to compensate you adequately by offering a brokerage commission of 30% of the money for your assistance. I have in mind to establish a good business and friendly relationship with you in the nearest future if you are able to assist us. Please, let me receive your approval or reply through my son’s Email(tinkszietsman44@e-mail.ua)and if you are unable to assist please be kind to notify me so that I can look for a suitable alternative.
I earnestly await your positive response.

Respectfully,

MRS. TINKS  ZIETSMAN.

Anytime anyone says they’ll offer a commission for you to accept funds, act as broker, etc. outside of a legitimate sales position, run.

Until next time. peace.  Be careful.

Woohoo – more funds from random strangers

I wish this was for real sometimes, especially this time of year.  That’s what these scammers hope.  They hope I’ll throw good sense aside and fall for this crap in the holiday spirit or out of desperation.  Not happening, folks.

As always, my notes are italicized.

Who doesn’t want eights million dollars? !  I’ll call never.  You have to be better than this to make me fall for it.

Cutting sugar intake is a good thing. Veggie Kate has a great post on it.

Veggie Kate

This is such a great picture!

Some of my favorite points:

  • Women should have no more than 6 teaspoons of added sugar daily; men no more than 9 tsp… BUT
  • The average American adult consumes 22 teaspoons per day, and the average child takes 32
  • The average can of soda has 10 teaspoons of sugar
  • Many foods contain hidden sugar: hotdog and buns, peanut butter, french fries, salad dressings, most processed foods, and more!
  • Sugar is addicting and increases your risk of a multitude of health issues
yikes!

So ditch the soda and go get some fresh water!  You don’t want early wrinkles! 😉

Apologies and rant

It’s been a while, eh?   Sorry about that.  Sometimes life gets in the way of fun.  This is a labor of love and I had to give up time to focus on a labor of necessity.

SC is a mess.  The Department of Revenue was hacked and information was accessed.  I’ve been working on what I can to protect the family’s information and credit.  Just signing up for the free credit monitoring service was a pain!  And the more information the government releases, the more frustrated and angry I get.  Why wait two weeks before telling us?  Why was the data not encrypted?  Why tell us encryption isn’t standard when encryption is safer than just leaving it open for the world to see?  Makes me physically ill to think my kids’ credit could be shot before they have the chance to do anything for themselves.

What else is happening in our fine state?  DeMint resigned, but that does not bother me one bit.  His focus hasn’t been on the business of SC for a long, long time.

South Carolina is also one of the nation’s unhealthiest states again.   We can’t keep going this way.  I know I’m doing my part to end the trend personally. I’m moving more, eating better, relaxing more, and working toward getting off of all meds.  Family health history and injuries aside, I know I’m going to make it.  My family is moving more and eating better, too.  We can live by example and motivate people to want more than just to take meds and call it a day.

Instead of just accepting things, I’m taking action.  Writing and calling state officials about the mess they could have prevented with security measures,  taking action against declining health, and doing whatever I can to help others to the same.

Rant over.  This one is, anyway.  We’ll get back to our regularly scheduled scam busting and other goodies soon.  Until next time, peace.
